INTRODUCTION TO SENSORY EVALUATION OF FERMENTED PRODUCTS

Dr. Katie Osdoba, from consulting firm Sensory Spectrum, Inc., will conduct a two-part workshop on the science and application of Sensory Evaluation. The morning will provide an introduction to the processes, methods, applications, and physiology of Sensory Evaluation, teaching participants about the basic building blocks of flavor perception and description.

The afternoon will use hands-on exercises to demonstrate what to expect in fermented vegetables - the flavors inherent in the ingredients as well as those developed through fermentation or imparted by added flavorings such as onion, garlic, pepper, or other spices. 

BUSINESS BASICS FOR FOOD & BEVERAGE STARTUPS

Three experts provide a day-long workshop of financial, sales, marketing, and business strategy essentials.

The morning session with Maria Pearman from advisory firm GHJ will be a deep dive into the financial basics of running a successful business - modeling, tracking, and analyzing key financial metrics. In the afternoon, Marty Ochs from strategic growth & sales consultancy E3 Craft Strategies and Matt Ebbing from branding and design agency Creature Theory will delve into questions of branding, competitive positioning, marketing, and sales.

This workshop is an invaluable resource for start-up and early-stage companies, looking to optimize their resources and maximize their results. 

GROW PROGRAM

The GROW program at FERMENTATION 2022 is designed to connect fermented food and beverage producers with key distributors, brokers, and retailers. 

PRODUCT SHOWCASE

When you purchase a ticket to FERMENTATION 2022, you’re automatically allowed to include 1 product in the Showcase display.

Your product and a tent card featuring your logo, company and product names, and QR code-activated contact form will be displayed on a shelf in a  display case throughout FERMENTATION 2022, from Sunday, August 28, through Tuesday, August 30.

Details on where to send your product and materials will be provided as we get closer to the event. And, obviously, perishable products will need to be in dummy versions.

BUYER+

If you are a TFA Member, your ticket to FERMENTATION 2022 includes 1 guaranteed meeting during our Buyer+ event. You will get to indicate in advance your preferences among  the buyers, and we will do our best to match you up with one of your top picks. Additional meetings may be initiated by buyers.  

Buyer+ meetings give fermented food and beverage producers an opportunity to discuss their products with a buyer for 15 minutes on Sunday afternoon, August 28, prior to the start of our formal program later in the day.

You will be sent additional information about how to sign up for your Buyer+ meeting as we get closer to the event.
